About us
Youth Association for Rural Development (YARD) was founded in 1995 and registered with the NGO Board in 1996 as a local Charity under the NGO – Statute of 1989. The Association was an initiative of 10 founder members who saw the need to address the unwanted situation which was growing and taking root amongst the youth, which could not be addressed effectively thus a resolution to come as a group to start an association through which the youth can be organized and address their development needs.
YARD has been involved in various Rural Development Programmes for the past 15 years. It has been involved in the promotion of Vocational Training skills for the disadvantaged children, moulding improved energy saving stoves to fight the respiratory diseases amongst communities, child support scheme, sustainable agriculture, Water and sanitation and creating income generating activities.

YARD strives to improve the livelihoods particularly of those members of the community who live in difficult circumstances and have no other means to advance in their lives. YARD values gender and intergenerational equity and equality.
